This tool is useful for quickly renaming many objects with ought needing to rely on the mouse.
Mingle object use: select object, run tool, rename done.
Multiple objects use: select objects, run tool, will rename and increment the objects 01, 02, 03 etc...
A practical use is to setup a hotkey for the tool. I personally use the ctrl + return key combination.
By default Maya does not assign that hotkey, so all us purist's who don't change original keys can rejoice!
